Satellite Imaging Project Samples
Remote Community Orthophotography and Planimetry
Aeroquest Mapcon was contracted to provide 50 cm resolution colour orthophotography and 3D planimetric collection for several remote northern communities.
50 cm resolution 3-band (RGB) orthophotography
New DEM photogrammetrically collected in 3D from stereo pairs
Additional planimetric collection included buildings, hydrology, infrastructure and transportation
Project included surveyed targeted ground control
Total project area of approximately 650 km²
Imagery sourced from WorldView-2
Pacific Northwest Orthophotography
Aeroquest Mapcon was contracted to provide 50 cm resolution colour orthophotography over a project area in northwest Washington State.
Project area 577 km²
Imagery was rectified using existing NAIP DEM
Orthophotography was controlled using existing higher resolution rectified imagery
Imagery sourced from WorldView-2
Western Africa Orthophotography
Aeroquest Mapcon was contracted to provide high resolution 30 cm satellite orthophotography for a project area located in Burkina Faso.
Project area 483 km²
Imagery was rectified using existing SRTM DEM
Orthophotography was controlled using the satellite ephemeris data
Imagery was sourced from WorldView-3
Satellite Imagery Based Photogrammetric Bathymetry
Aeroquest Mapcon was contracted to provide bathymetric maps of several northern lakes using satellite imagery.
50 cm WorldView-2 stereo imagery was acquired for approximately 1015 km²
Coastal blue, Blue and Green spectral bands were used for maximum water penetration
Both ephemeris data and ground control was used to increase imagery positioning and stereo accuracy
The lake bottom elevations were manually collected in 3D stereo as contour data and used in conjunction with the collected lake shore perimeter to calculate water volumes
Final results were compared to previous traditional bathymetric surveys performed in the same lakes to determine accuracy and cost effectiveness of different methodologies
Northern Community SAR Imagery
This Capella SAR satellite imagery was captured in the north and shows both the community and surrounding rivers.
60 cm SAR imagery
Captured project area is approximately 50 km²
